CAVMAG2010

19-20 April 2010, Bournemouth University

This will be a joint conference of the IET, IEEE and the DEHS to mark the 70th anniversary of the development of the high-power cavity magnetron by Randall and Boot at Birmingham University. This crucial invention was transformed into a practical device by the GEC Company in England and was put into large-scale production in the USA following the Tizard Mission of 1940. Its origins, however, go back to the mid-1930s with key work being done in Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Japan and the USA.

The conference will open with a keynote address by Dr Eli Brookner of the Raytheon Company.
